re the 6CM, if you are not reloading I would dissagree with Gimp and say stay with the 243, better range of off the shelf ammo and the 1:8 allows you the option of relading the 105/108 gr glass projectiles if you want.
NB 243's are now starting to come from some manufactures standard with1:8 twist.

To be fair this my thinking. I'm a recovering handloader, and i want to stick to factory ammo for the foreseeable future. Also I have never shot a deer more than 320m away. But you never know what the future holds.....
