What I'm liking about the XC - at least just from looking at the models - is that you can get stonking velocity with low pressures using slower powders, and hence (theoretically) longer barrel life.

I'm doing a comparison document at the moment so I can get my head around them, and I'll post it up here later.

I'm completely new to these cartridges and am using Quickload to see what's what. The only 6mm I've ever owned is .243, so if anyone knows something that I don't and it looks like I'm talking shit, please tell me.

I built a 6XC with a Pre-fit barrel on a Model 7 action. 26" 1:7.5 twist. Pushing 108gn ELD-m at 3135fps without pressure signs. 3178fps shows the slightest shine from the ejector.

Keen to try some 110gn SMK as they appear to be about the best option regarding BC. Better than the 115gn DTAC's, but might require a 1:7 at stated by Sierra. Have read that plenty of folk at doing OK with them at 1:7.5.

Currently have only fired 41 rounds in it.

I'm running the 110gr SMK's in a 1 in 7.5 twist, 25" Bartlein. 6mm Creedmoor at 3,080fps. it's in a comp rifle setup so not running it overly hard. Shoots extremely well.

I'm also considering a 6mm BRA (Ackley improved BR) or 22 BRA or possibly a 224 Valkyrie. Wanting it as a LR varminting round with good barrel life. This is the key reason I'm wanting it, my Creedmoor barrel is for comp's and it's a 5 minute job to change barrels.

The BR variants are quite attractive given the Lapua brass available and now MDT BR specific mags. Just got to get them in 10 shot rather than the current 12 shot...
