    7 WSM or 7/300 WSM

So who has real hands on experience with either of these? In regards to brass for the straight WSM or otherwise what are people using die wise for the 7/300? Trying to decide on one of the two

I went with a 7/300wsm to use a longer neck. I burnt out my 270wsm barrel in less than 1000 rounds ( IIRC 750ish).
Also at the time there was a better selection of 300wsm brass than 7mm wsm.
I'm using Norma brass and necking down with a redding bushing die.
Velocity with 180gn bergers is 856m/s so not fast but accurate. I may be wrong but I think the longer neck helps hold the long projectile I have the base of projectile at the neck junction.
I shoots better than I can.
Got to run to squash, but throw some questions and I might be able to answer

So 300 WSM for full length etc then your neck die? I was thinking a 300 WSM type s set then change the neck die sleeve

Yes 300wsm body die or whatever it is. To bump back when needed. I haven't yet abs some cases are at 6 firings.
I may have given up some internal volume by going with Norma. As my loads are below others @DAF

Sorry daf if it isn't you. But someone had one they were shooting competitively.

My barrel is 26"also. If i was to do it again I would consider a straight 300wsm with 208s or similar. I don't know if you could get enough speed though

Its a mates, Just a browning x bolt std. Yea I noticed loose primer pockets but only because I had maxed it out, backed it off and no issues. Using 139sst. Nothing special but has shot a fair few deer with it and it works mint. I think he just gave me federal because its all he could get hold of.
