I've had a rem mag, sold it and built my 300 win mag as tops rifle, as I carry my 308 90%of the time of which she is a light clean killing machine I came to the conclusion what if I could have something that's the weight , portability , recoil, length (all the basic attributes of a 308 with less recoil being the exception) but could reach out further ?
The conclusion - 20" 284win. The only real sacrifice being that I see is that factory ammo is non existent however we know for LR stuff one generally reloads anyway irrelevant of calibre.

Agreed, love my little 284. 22 inch barrel un suppressed so slightly different to the bush pigs. Its fluted with a stug stock, weighs bugger all and shoots 160tmks half moa on a good day. Plenty of info on here which encouraged me to do mine
