Hi guys,
I have always been a fan of the AI rifles.
Was wondering if anyone has used one here in NZ outside of the NZDF.
I noticed a nice AW 7.62 sold on TM the other day for $6.5k.

Warm Barrels!
Yep... I've used a few from 7.62x51 .300 WM but lucked out on the .338 Lapua
Extremely nice rifles, I found the triggers good and accuracy was amazing with the right ammo but the price tag and weight having to carry one around all day was off setting!
An AW and a AWSM here, never fail to put a grin on your face when when they go bang.
Was the scope included for that money?
Good price I think considering you can't buy a new AW any longer.
Much prefer the AWs lines over the AX & AT series, however I'm sure a free standing grip would suit my hand better than the thumbhole though.
I liked the AW version with the 20" tube and folding stock. But the standard version was long and heavy then fucking rediculous with the factory suppressor on it.

"Sixty percent of the time,it works every time"
Sako built this before the TRG series.
I rate it over the AI series for ergonomics, weight and feel.

The trigger was absolute magic and the stock more adjustable than both the TRG and AI.
If you are going to spend some money on a long range rig, give one of these some serious consideration.

Yeap , used the AW in 308 for over 12 years now , while Sako are nice , I find AI are In a league all of there own , if you look at the AW in 308 and the TRG-22 in 308 , the Sako is lighter in weight , but the mags are not as good as the double feed AI AW mags , and the action cycles smoother .
I had Sako TRG-21 , TRG-22 & TRG-42, sold them for AIs , I did like the TRG-22/42 low cog bipods very good stable design .
If you look at AI , then in 308 , the Short Action , AW,AT or AT-X are the ones to go for , in bigger cals , 300-338 , then the AX , AXMC , AXSR or AXMC MKIII are the ones to go for , both these actions use double stack/feed mags , and as such are very smooth cycling actions.
Of course now they are all , use Quickloc system to make barrel swaps quick and easy , just a allen key is needed .
Yes the folder is good for pulling the bolt out & cleaning , down side , extra weight & cost .
Cheers Chris
