    Advice for new 223

Im not having any luck tracking down a Kimber montana in 223. Next option is remmington model 7 but I would want a lighter stock for it. Can anyone tell me if Ken Henderson makes them for model 7?
My last option is keep my cz527 But would also want to change out the wood stock any options nz made for this. Would creakote also, my question on this, is the creakote applied to the chamber area ? Interested on what anyone has to say. I really do like the wood blued combination on the cz, but the amount of moisture it sees makes it a mission to keep mint, and the wood stock is going to get real beat up. from new on the first full day hunting in the rain what ever finish was on it completely came off and it would absorb enough water to make the barrel channel walk and also became noticeably heavier. I re finished the stock with tru oil which I found quite tricky to use and that sealed it up.
I think now for me I would rather a stainless synthetic combo for a rifle that sees a lot of use. This rifle also needs to be as light as possible. Sound Familiar? Cheers

Have you contacted outdoor supplies? I’ve had three Montana’s off them over the years

OR a howa mini, lighter than the ruger, way smoother trigger and action to but it has a silly mag catch though I believe that are or have changed it.

@MSL I have talked to outdoor supplies and they cant help me with the 223 caliber. Waiting to hear back from rivers to ranges.
@Walker and @Marty Henery Even though I want light I don't want Plastic bottom metal and plastic mags. I don't mind my tikka having that but for this rifle I would rather hinged floor plate or blind mag. I like the cz for that, all steal including detachable magazine, but Ive already lost one! The Howa mini would be an option if could get a lighter stock which I'm sure will happen and by the sounds of it hinged floor plate is available.

how about the Steyr Pro Varmint Stainless .223Rem from Killwell's - Its 1:9 twist synthetics stock? otherwise I guess you're looking tikka for 1:8 that you can get a Ken stock for or a Howa - maybe a GRS stock and one of the barreled actions https://www.reloaders.co.nz/shop/Fir...vy+Barrel.htmlhere..

hope that gives you some other flavours.

    Lightweight
    Stainless
    Synthetic
    Hinged floor plate
    Comes in 223

Really can't think of anything else apart from Montana and Model 7 out of the box.

A Howa mini action 223 stainless barrelled action + Lightweight carbon fibre stock + Hinged floor plate + DPT suppressor + 4x fixed power scope would be my ideal rig.
My current setup (in 7.62x39) isn't too far off after chopping the magazine down.

Yeah the steyr too heavy for this one. Its a hard road finding the perfect rifle. I just dont like the 223 in the tikka size action.. Howa still on the cards I guess.
Anyone know if Ken Henderson does a stock for the model 7? I don't Have face plant so not sure if I can contact him.

@Synthetic yep you getting close with that one. There really is room for someone in nz to make some Howa stocks I think, and some others too.

Yeah saw that will stick with a tradtional style stock for this one. Although in another thread there was an aluminium chassis that some one had made for a cz with pistol grip and it really did look good.

Ken henderson does inlet for the model 7. $1100 odd with an aluminum v block if I recall. It may not be a kimber but nothing wrong with the trusty mod 7

I still think the best 223 is a 243 when it comes to Kimber montanas
the action is designed for 308 length and the 223s just have a block in the magazine and smaller shorter follower
the follower that they use in the 223 is dog shit and loves to tip or i just need a new spring for it
the both my 243s feed flawlessly and are externally identical to the 223

and well the 243 hits a lot harder for a tiny bit more recoil
