I've got a an old brno fox I got off here a while back with a shagged barrel. Pitted and goes rusty at slightest inclination of moisture. Shoots okay but I want to throw a supressor on and make a soft shooter for the kids and me.
So is it worth looking for something second hand that will screw on without much trouble or just go new and do a decent job? I have no knowledge on the subject and don't know what sort of cost I'll be looking at.
you COULD try it suppressed before changing it....the recrown may bring back some accuracy and it would be a sub $200 experiment Vs $7-8-900 for new barrel.
but talk to @Wingman he will be able to sort you out.
Get a new bbl, that way you can get a faster twist so you can shoot heavier 22cal pills if you want. Talk to Truflite would be my suggestion.
May as well make it a 223 while you're at it

esy to find out with cleaning rod. draw line along top dead centre,insert into breech,draw line across rear,pushinto bore until your line comes back to top dead centre and then take rod out and measure distance between two lines...it normally isnt perfect measure but will be within cooeey definately easy to tell 10-12-14 apart.
Was thinking maybe I should keep the original barrel intact, although it has been cerakoted and that'd be like polishing a turd.
As for 223 well yeah could do that, got everything for it. But then it wouldn't be a 222....
Get @Wingman to make it into a 6x45 remington
Have a new CZ barrel chambered in .223 but unsure if the barrel threads are the same? Maybe you can check and PM if it's of interest.

I can do .222, 1:14" to 1-8" twist stainless or chromolly. I'm in Cambridge.
Old Brno fox 222magazine is shorter than the more modern 223 mags of the cz 527.
If you tried a 223 in your mag it would properly not fit, and that is the end of that avenue.
Again, you will be limited on how heavy are the pills you want to shoot, due to mag length , unless you tucked them deep.
Talk to wingman, he is the cz/Brno man.

A deer shot in the head wont mind if its a 50 gr or 60 gr pill. Id rebarrel, and keep it as 222. Apart from the "noise reduction" theres no real advantage to a suppressor on a .222
but boy oh boy does a suppressed trebly sound quiet.....Im rather impressed with the wee cartridge,the mother n father of all them flashharry small varmit rounds with same case head size ,and its still doing the business .
