Advice on a Tippmann M4-22 trigger.

Looking for some advice from you knowledgeable folk!

Recently purchased a M4-22 post 52k serial.

I decided to purchase a Jard drop in trigger kit however after test firing the rifle, it will fire once initially however the bolt then gets stuck in the rearward position and will not release unless the rear takedown pin is removed. Then the bolt shoots forward again which indicated hammer interference.

Has anyone had experience with this particular trigger or any trigger for that matter and what advice would you give?

The trigger felt fantastic however it's no good if it doesn't work reliably.

I’ve heard that the M4-22 can sometimes have compatibility issues with certain aftermarket triggers. The bolt sticking in the rear position might be due to the hammer design interfering with the bolt carrier group. Some users have mentioned that triggers specifically designed for .22 LR platforms tend to work more reliably with the M4-22. It might be worth reaching out to Jard or checking if they offer a version of the trigger that’s optimised for your rifle. Alternatively, considering a trigger that’s known to be compatible with the M4-22 could resolve the issue. Hope you get it sorted out—the improved trigger feel is definitely worth it when everything runs smoothly!

isnt that the Jard 17wsm has a light trigger came with it, instead of the complete dropin one.

Thanks mate, triggers seem hard to come by in NZ or completely priced out compared to the US ( no opposed to paying a small premium). That's why I went with the Jard from GunsNZ who were awesome to deal with. Thinking I may look in to importing one from the us or further afield however I'm not too sure what is required or even if that is possible.

You can apply the import permit for AR triggers easily. Then you need to find some store which is willing to export the trigger. I used to buy from Brownells but I had some issue with US customs few months ago. If you're looking to buy from Brownells make sure to check with customer service that the part can be exported to New Zealand.

That's awesome mate, do you mind sharing some details on how you would go about that? It would be the first time trying to import anything firearm related.

Find what you want on Brownells, you can filter search results for what can be shipped out of the US.

Email their International Depart using the contact form, with the part numbers of what you want and double check they will export it to NZ.

If yes then go onto the Firearms Safety Authority website and find the form for applying for an import permit. Download it and either fill it out online and email back to them or print it out, fill it in and take it to your local police station.

Once approved (just did one and it was exactly 7 days from submitting online to recieving the permit) they will email you the permit with instructions on what to do with it.

You may have to email the exporters copy to Brownells.

Once it arrives in NZ you will be contacted by customs to provide your import permit. Once you provide the permit and the package is cleared you will have to arrange pick up from the International mail center.

You can follow the process on the https://www.firearmssafetyauthority....-permit-import first. Once you obtained your import permit then you can proceed with your purchase.

Applied for a permit and had a reply from Brownells saying they didn't actually need a permit to send, but I would need one to receive at the NZ customs end so seems pretty straight forward. Looks like I will be going the route of a Hyperfire PDI drop in based off reviews and compatibility with the Tippmann M4-22

Just a bit of an update, got the permit through yesterday and place the order with Brownells, very straight forward and when combined with shipping, it worked out slightly cheaper than NZ with a better trigger than what was on offer here. Now comes the waiting for the part to arrive.

A week to the day and I have received the trigger, pretty impressed with the whole process!
