    AICS too big?

So I should have thought of this before I ordered it, it seems obvious in hindsight.

I am building a rifle stock for a Rem 700 .223 I have all the parts, I’m just waiting for some free time to get into it.

When my .223 mag arrived I was surprised at the sheer size of it. I shouldn’t have been as the AICS is standard across many calibers, the .223 being on the smaller side. Particularly as my rifle is 1:12, so can’t really make the most of the extra length available. It’s factory 55gn for me.

Is there another option out there that will be a slimmer fit? The Magpul ones seem nice, but say they are only for the magpul stock. That shouldn’t matter if I am building a stock myself though correct?

Does anyone know of anything else that could work? The only fixed part is the rem 700 short action.

Or I just suck it up and use what I already have haha
