    AIMPOINT MICRO HI RED DOT.

Just putting it out there to see who if any are using or have used one of these sights.
Most of my shots out hunting are up pretty close and snap shooting seems to be the flavour on most outings..
Would like to give one a go just for kicks.
Love to hear anything..good or bad.
    cheers

I have a micro H2 on a Marlin 3030 Dark, works great if that helps.

I had a yellow label Trs-25 before that, I highly rate that too but it has a blue tinge to the lens compared to the Aimpoint and there is something 'tougher' feeling in the Aimpoint.

If I was buying new I'd probably consider a Holosun, they seem to be very good value and very nice to look through.

Only have experience with Vortex Crossfire II 2 MOA Red Dot. Have two on Rossi Pumas. One I bought used of an AR15 and second new. At $299 retail I'm pretty (maybe easily) impressed. Clear optics, plenty of gradations for light conditions, feel solid and robust. Excellent reviews on them from the American market with few caveats.

My only beef is lack of any magnification with my red dots. Fine for my eyes to 100m, struggling after that. Moving to scoutscope on these rifles and love them. So depends on your application I guess.

Had one years ago, sold it and replaced with the trs25 on 3 of my guns now,10/22,44mag and sakoA7 in .308,,great for what you are wanting to do at a fraction of the cost.try looking through a red dot before you buy if you have an astigmatism in your eyes like I have now the dot looks more like a starburst but is still functional.

I have an Aimpoint H1 micro on my Bergara Single shot.
It's very quick to get on target and compact.
The lack of magnification can make it a little harder to see animals in dark bush.
One advantage of aimpoints is their battery life is way longer than other red dots.
Definitely worth checking out, especially as a bush gun.

All these RD's and Holographic are no good if you in the ageing or poor eyesight group
They do not have Dioptre adjustments
Correct me if wrong - but all I have seen - Docter - Holosun - Burris do not

But I reckon they are excellent with the right person for the suited application (close bush/snap shooting

[QUOTE=Phil_H;1198325]Please excuse the temporary diversion of topic @doinit, but what scoutscope's are you using @Jhon?

    Cheers

Vortex Crossfire II 2-7x32 Scout Riflescope with V-Plex Reticle, bought the last one ScopeOut had for $299, liked it so much I went looking and got another same price from Bronco in Tauranga. These scopes get a very good writeup in the US market also.

If you need glasses for distance you need to wear those when using a red dot. Not really a problem as you are wise wearing something for eye protection. Optician can also correct for astigmatism which takes care of the starburst effect. I have slight astigmatism myself @Phil_H but so slight it's not worth correcting for. I just use the same area/corner of the astigmatism starburst as my aim.

Wearing glasses and using scopes is a PITA. I have to lift the glasses up to look through, I know you can adjust the focus on the scope but that never worked like I wanted. Now I use an Intermediate Eye Relief scope. Eye relief on these scopes is between a conventional and a scout scope, about 6in. For me they combine the best features of scout and conventional scopes. The downside is that they can be difficult to mount compared to a conventional scope.

Now, your post prompted me to go and look in the top of the wardrobe and I found this sitting there doing nothing.

When I received it I was assured that it worked but have never tried it as it came without a battery.
If you can wait until I get a battery in it next week and verify that it is working you are more than welcome to have a loan of it to see if this is the path you wish to go down.

    Cheers

I have no problem shooting with glasses on and looking over the top of them with normal Scopes
But I had to change my brand of Scope to ones that had better Diopter +

Cheers there sarvo..yeah I'm sure on the wrong side of the age fence but touch wood I do not have the need for glasses....yet?..
when it comes to hunting and lining up on whatever. Peering through the phone book is a different story lol.
If Phil's offer turns out then that would most certainly tell me one way or the other whether or not I would want to pursue the idea.
