    Which AK?

Thinking about getting one...in E-Cat. Is there a desirable one to obtain say 56s vs NHM90? Not sure what the differences are after a quick google search.

The 56s package that is for sale on this forum is not a bad deal considering the mags, can and bayonet.

56s is milspec with a semi trigger and a nhm90 is made for the civi market from scratch.

I personally have couple of saigas in mil style setup and to do that properly is a $ hole!

A verpr is the cream de la cream in my mind and I wish I had never sold mine.

What do you want it for? Is it just to have a ak? Or does looking "right" matter to you.

    What caliber do you want?

10MRT shooters do it 60 times, in two directions and at two speeds.

I've got a hunter saiga converted to an AK103 clone. One of the best rifles I've ever owned. It is very accurate and sexy as fuck. I highly recommend a modern pattern Russian AK.

+1 on the Saiga, it's my favourite rifle. They work well.

I want one mainly that looks the part - wooden furniture. Wouldn't shoot it that much. Have to say that Saiga looks fantastic though. Will keep eyes open for Vepr and Saiga. Thanks for explaining 56s vs NHM!

You can put wooden stuff on any of them.
Well,as long as it has a std AK handgard setup and a Std reciver back. You can fix a sporter saiga hand guard setup but it adds cost but if you have reciver with a slant cut then your very limited.
I wish I had a photo of it with me but my favourite AK is one I made by buying both a sporter saiga and a saiga made BB gun (made from a real ak) and swapping parts over to get as close as possable to a factory 103, proper grips, bayonet lug, folding stock and flash hidder/brake(the one that comes on the ak for ended saigas is missing internals)-I had to buy proper rivets from rusmil and buy a press to fit it all but I'm very happy with the result. The only thing not factory spec is the trigger-that's a tromax short reset version-helps empty the drum fast

The NHM-90 isn't a bad rifle but it definitely feels and looks "chikkety China" compared to the Saiga. Steel on the former's dust cover definitely thicker. I'm not sure if it's the same with all NHM-90 but the trigger on this example is verrry light. Almost ridiculously so.

There are also some Zastava M70's floating around which are nice. The Chinese ones are pretty solid.

Some nice 20 round mags would convince me more, but dreams are free.
