So... 6.8x64 (more or less) vs 6.8x51.those will be rather different animals - a stallion and a pony to use an analogy. However, the new kid on the block 6.8 will probably be better than the current 5.56 and 7.62 options at wounding human enemies - the main purpose of a military firearm. For this purpose, a 6.5mm would probably do just about as effectively there is only 0.013" or 0.3mm diametric difference.
