Just took my suppressor off after giving it a workout over the last couple of days. Unscrewed the base (its a DPT modular) and the smell of ammonia made my eyes water took the front baffle off and got a second dose. I have read somewhere that ammonia and aluminium don't get on so anyone know what causes this and how to stop it doing any damage.
You should try shooting a few mags through an AR15 without an adjustable gas block or a gas busted charging handle if you want to make your eyes water with ammonia fumes.
