If you want to shoot cowboy, you need a ten round mag tube, unless your happy to reload mid run. So that puts you into pistol calibres with 20” barrel. So you might aswell pick a calibre that you can also shoot in a revolver that way you can simplify your reloading and avoid ammo mix ups. If I had $2k to spend I’d be looking at a uberti 1873 carbine which has a 20” octagon barrel, in either 357/38 or 45LC
