    Anybody tried one of these?

    Hi guys

Interested if anyone has a Weaver 1.5-4.5x24 illuminate #4 German like this one, and any feedback.

Weaver 1.5-4.5X24 Classic Extreme Riflescope Ill. German #4 Reticle Matte - Natchez Shooters Supplies

Price seems sharp even for an older model scope.

I am looking to put this on a bush build so out to 200' always liked the reticle and figure the dot may be useful on those crafty black fallow in the beech.

    Cheers

    Dino

Cant vouch for that scope in particular but i have a lot of respect for Weaver scopes. My Bush hack (10 years old now) has been draged thru some serious abuse and drownings and has never fogged or been knocked of its line. In my mind they are nearly indistuctable and i will not touch anything else!

Got one on an AR. Good glass. Illumination is temperamental. Adjustments are not tactile at all which is a pain in the arse if you are trying to adjust them while somebody is talking or shooting. I like it though.

Cant speak for that one in particular.
I had 3 of classic range 3-9 x38? in less than 3 years every one fogged in less than a year.
Weavers have a pretty good rep but i dont think Il ever have another.

I think If you stay out of the budget range you should be fine (hopfully)

She is why I hunt in the rain, spontaneous "its going to be a mint evening" hunts are a thing of the past with the kids and both our jobs.
So I work out when i can get AWAY even if only a morning or evening and im gone regardless.

It has ment I spent a night in the pissing rain with no fire on the wrong side of a river Its a river I know intimately too and didn't think it would come up that much. Now if its raining lots I stay on the wagon side of the river or hunt another spot

The German #4 is a good reticle at low magnification and in poor light. A 1.5 to 4 or 5 with that reticle is very versatile in the bush here in NZ, and on a big game rifle. I've no experience with the Weaver though, mine is a loopy.

    Hi Guys

Scope turned up today, just on a week delivery from US and no duty/customs as under $400....just! Impressed so far with the glass, like the reticle and dot may come in handy, will see.

Putting on a Howa 308 with hardy suppressor and Lightweight Carbon fibre stock from STUG, will chuck a pick up when she is all done in a couple of months.

    Cheers

    Dino
