    Anyone in Chch got a 1/2" lapping bar I could borrow?

    I have some new rings, tempted to just slap 'em on and hope for the best but it's a nice scope so I figure I should do it right.

    I have a set of lapping bars. 25mm.
    You'll need to get your own compound.

    I work in Middleton area if you want to arrange pickup.

    Something to consider - I used to use lapping grit, but nowadays I use spray adhesive to glue a strip of 600-800gr wet and dry to a 25mm lapping bar instead. The paper thickness brings it up nicely to 25.4mm (1"), and it cuts fast and clean compared to lapping compound. It also means that you don't have to worry about the lapping grit embedding in the rings if the rings are softer than the bar (such as with aluminium rings).

    Thanks all. You're right of course @PaulNZ, I meant 1 inch / 25mm. Late at night and I screwed up my metric / imperial conversion... I'll flick you a PM @scottrods, I'm in Avonhead so a pickup from your work would be easy
