Anyone ordered a scope from opticsplanet recently?

Hey all, anyone ordered from opticsplanet or any other USA supplier recently? Looking to buy a scope but just wondering if I’ll need an import permit first, looks like opticsplanet will supply the necessary export permit but I’m worried about it getting caught up in customs in NZ

Asked the police at Kapiti about 5 weeks ago and was told no permit required for a scope. Strange, because a year ago they supplied me a permit.

Yep, because too much work for the police to give permit for those stuffs, so no permit for scope anymore.

The optic planet won’t ship most rifle scope to nz, you can have a try to find out.

The optic zone does ship their scopes to nz.

Just bought parts for my Suzuki Samurai from the US. 18 Kg parcel 4 weeks door to door. Seems freight is working well.

Some time ago I ordered a scope off Opticsplanet that they listed as in stock when it wasn't. It took them 3 months before they sent it to me.
Camera Land NY has given me much better service and Doug is a great guy to deal with.

    Yip Doug is really helpful.

Does anyone know if Natchez still ships here, I checked their FAQ, they bang on about international orders being ok but then say final destination address must be In The USA,
well that's how I read it?

Some bits I have ordered from Ossian Indiana are still sitting in Chicago Illinois 8 days later. 190 miles apart.

Yanks on their forums are complaining about USPS poor service.

I believe they stopped international some time ago. I excited their mailing list at that point. Yeah, saw what you saw on their website when I checked recently.

    Jon at Opticzone is excellent.

I had to get permits for scopes from optic zone and euro optic earlier this year.

I get the impression that import permits for everything was intended to muck around license holders, its just that the reality of the volume of orders and associated workload has been realized

Here's their reply to my question asking if I needed an Import Permit for a scope to go on a hunting rifle -

    Good afternoon,

    Thank you for your email.

With the recent change to the Arms Act 1983, this item you are seeking to import is not considered a part, therefore there is no longer a lawful requirement for a permit to import to be obtained.

    Kind regards

That's not to say the wind direction won't change. As I said, in the past they issued me a permit for a bog std scope. And yet, if you were looking at say some iron sights,m would a permit be required??

What I would recommend is send off a permit application. If they issue one then good. If the refuse to issue one, keep the correspondence in case of customs messing you around.

Interesting. Was there some sort of challenge based on the act? I wonder what changed.

@jakewire I asked them a while ago and they said no international sales. No destination other than US states were on the drop-down menu and that prompted me to ask them
