    Anyone run a 20"ish 270wsm

Looking at chopping a 270wsm down was just wondering how they go particularly with h4831 and larger projectiles 145gr+

you can put mud tyres on a farrari and still drive it around....... wont be as good as factory set it up to run,but it will still run LOL.
std 270win I had was 20" pretty much from factory, always wished it was slightly longer for better powder burn, was a real flame thrower in poor light, and the longer the barrel the further from your ears the loud bit.
    75/15/10 black powder matters

id say at a guess a 270sm might be a bit more efficent at burning powder being a shorter, fatter case. none the less id definitely be running a can but i certainly dont have any real world experience with that kinda setup

Yeah have a dpt magnum suppressor with stainless steel baffel for it and happy to leave it 22" but was thinking if people were getting good results down at 20" or even 18" I might give it a go as I have to cut the barrel and recrown it anyways to go from 1/2x20 to 14x1 thread.
Had a 18" 270 before and thought the shorter cartridge would be more efficient at burning powder in the short barrel

I hardly lost anything cutting mine to 22". 117grn Hammer bullets at 3470 fps. Lethal.

Caveat is that Im using R26.

Looking at the numbers on here from various similar sized cartridges (6.5 prc, 7mm saum 300 wsm) the 20 inch will still have heaps of poke. Chop ettt

I'm doing 3096fps with 150gr nbt using ar2217 out of 20.67 inches. Doesn't appear too hot. No pressure signs etc.

Cheers guys think it's definitely going to be 20" then unless someone has great results with a 18" one

    I have a 21" 270WSM. Running 145gr ELD-X at 3150fps. A little spicey, but fine. Shoot very accurately too.

    Happy shooting!

I run a tikka 21" 270wsm running Federal Premium Hybrid Hunter factory ammo 140gr at 3075fps into 0.24". However none of that ammo has hit the country in a while and im down to my last 22 rounds/deer

tried some factory precision hunter 145gr and it dropped right down to 2850fps. I know a few guys running 145gr at 3050-3100 oyt of a 21" happily.
