    Anyone running a suppressed 357 or 44mag?

    Hi all.

Anyone here using a suppressed 357/38 or 44mag in either bolt like the Ruger 77/357 or even a lever action?

If so what suppressors are you using and what are your impressions. Also what ammo is working for you? I like the idea of a suppressed pistol calibre rifle.

    Cheers.

He has one on a 357. He's tried a lot of different ammo and loads including subs.

Have used a few .357/38spl and 44mag suppressed guns. The .357 shooting a 158gr subsonic 38spl round was ok on taking red deer but ended up going for a Ruger 96/44 (44 magnum) for a bit more thump on the deer. Just use the Berrys 240gr copper washed bullets from Reloaders at about $120 for 500. Work just fine. Also shoot the 310gr cast bullets but I have difficulty getting good groups over 750fps with the cast slugs.
Suppressors I just make out of PVC downpipe and alloy plate, work fine and quiet.

Tasbay, what would you consider your max range on deer to be with the 44mag subs?

I like to keep range under 100mts but took a good Red Stag back in January at about 140mts with considerable hold over. Slugs still went right through the chest.
With the night gear I usually shoot for the chest, give it a minute or two and send the dog off. Thats if it didnt drop on the spot. The Red in the photo pretty much dropped where the photo was taken from about 40mts. 2 stags just walked up to me so I shot one, ten yard drag to the boat....... to hard.
