Anyone thinking about buying one of the Warwick straight pull ARs?

Warwick WFAI-L, anyone know anything about them? Would a straight pull AR be comfortable to use?

I think the market is about to get flooded with them. Different makes and quality. Will be interesting to see if they last through to a change in government.

They're meant to be pretty accurate. I am running one of the Gun Supplies rifles.

Are these rifles any easier or faster than bolt actions?

Somewhat faster than a bolt action I would guess mostly due to configuration as your master hand remains in position through reloading and the gun remains on your shoulder. Speed isn't everything though you usually want to hit what you aim at and the cycling means that the sight picture will most likely need reaquiring.
I once raced a troy pump action against my ruger american timed 10 rounds sitting. I was 2 seconds slower but had 2 more rounds on target. Make of that what you will.
A rear locking cock on closing bolt action with a short bolt throw can be rather speedy and accurate with practice as well.
Speed and accuracy, get that ar on your P otherwise I wouldn't bother. I have ditched the ruger, the bolt is clunky and replaced it with a howa mini, tikka smooth by comparison if only the magazines were double stack it could well be the perfect price point rifle.

About the same practical rate of fire as a lever action I have found.

The pity of it, as in this video, the promotion of it being a rapid fire platform, in conjunction with with it looking like the A-typical semiauto I can only just wonder how long it will take to graduate to the top of the Police and public's "most wanted to ban" list.

Shame really, it would be good for culling goats, pigs and wallabies...perhaps.

I could be tempted to purchase one myself but will hang back and see what the reception of greater NZ to its arrival is like. Can't think of anything worse than purchasing a rifle you like, learning to use and love it and then have the Police and their big "gun crusher" take it back off you.

    Cheers

That’s exactly the reason why you bout it. To have a turn using the things that might go under the ban hammer. That’s what I’ve learnt...to my cost in experience...

From a practical perspective, this may be an ingenious solution to a non-existent problem.

A slicked-out lever-action is likely to be a better option given situations requiring rapid successive shots tend to be well within 100m.

And a bog standard Howa 223 with 10 round magazine is both fast and accurate.

Both options are less likely to declared weapons of mass destruction by the police farce.

Surely a Henry long ranger is more practical. Mag fed. Lever and scopes are easy to mount. And much cheaper than proprietary straight pull clones

stop being practicle folks..... 6 shots from most bolt actions as fast as you can work the bolt....takes care of 99% of needs....might take the non ejecting single for a walk and feed it with black powder fueled cast..... because I can.
