    Ar build

So today I commenced my 1st ar15 build, with careful YouTube guidance it all came together pretty damn easy. Now the dreaded has happened... 1 left over piece. I've been through all the videos and searched parts lists etc, I'm hoping it's been thrown in by mistake. It's the same size as the roll pins except it's a solid piece of steel. All roll pins etc on tutorials went where they should. The gun seems to operate correctly. Any ideas what this is? I'm hoping it's something simple or an extra

Have you installed the safety - I see a big hole in the lower - above / behind the trigger ?

Howdy, think I bumped into you at kens when ya picked this up. As above you haven't installed the safety yet but I don't think that part you have left has anything to do with the safety. Is it a roll/tension pin or a solid pin?

Looks similar to the pins for the trigger group?

I'm hoping it's something like that, every other part is accounted for and it functions sweet. Only other thing I could find is you get a pin like it if you build your own bcg

Hay mate, yeah I figured that as I was leaving. Small world aye. It's a solid pin with nothing to hold it in place. All the roll pins are in and I've looked over several vids etc and cant find any use for it

Dont think so? Its solid not a roll pin. The gas block came with pins anyhow.

Gas block pin would be solid.
Is your gas block a clamp or screw type?

The gas block has 2 Allen keys underneath clamping it to the barrel and a roll pin for the gas tube connection
