    AR15 Optics?

Good Evening Gents, I'm looking for insight into what to put on top of a 16inch Colt AR. I'll be using the rifle on Fallow, Pigs, Rabbits etc...(save the 30-06 or 7/08 for the reds)
Wanting some input on a few of the following, Eotech XPS3, Aimpoint micro, Leupold vxr patrol firedot, burris ar332 etc... I have no experience with any of them but like the versatility of the scope over red dot? School me please!!

I have a 1.4-4.5x24 on my AR at the moment, but I want to put on a scope with more magnification for the longer range shots that suits the type of hunting I'm using it for.
Probably will go for a 2-7x32 or a 3-9x40 with BDC reticle.

Will eventually build another upper for range stuff and will put a C-More or Eotech on that with pop up sights as backups.

I have recently put a Burris AR-332 on my AR15 and have had a sub MOA group at 100 yards when zeroing from the prone position and hits on a ten inch gong at 240 yards shooting standing unsupported. To be fair it has not had a lot of use because it is new to me but if fixed 3X magnification is OK for what you want then I have to say I have been very happy so far.

I personally find red dot sights a bit limiting on a hunting rifle. Fantastic up close in the bush but what it you want to shoot some rabbits or goats at beyond .22 distances?
A variable power scope that goes as low as you can afford while still getting 4+ power at the top end with 6-9 being even better.
I say as you can afford as there is a big difference between true 1x and 1.25x in use with both eyes open for most people.
Illuminated optics speed things up for me but some have other views.

I would buy a 3-9 leupold mk AR mod 1, with the mil dot reticle, if I had one AR and was looking for optics in that price range. The 332 is a great optic for service rifle shooting, really is the poor man's ACOG, but unsuitable for some hunting circumstances. Red dots aren't that practical for hunting beyond 100m, but work great inside that distance on pretty much everything.

Yeah ok theres a fair bit to consider. I always kinda thought I'd only be using it up to around 100 metres as most of my shooting is deer and pigs so normally use something with a bit more oompha and always been a bit wary of 223 over 100m... The scope is making a bit more sense at the minute, liking the Leupold Firedot guy? Although have had good runs with Burris also and they do a TAc 30? Would be bloody great if there was only one option!!

I am still sitting on the fence about what to put on my AR15. Probably going to end up with a 1.25 - 4 VX-R or similar.

Yep thats what I've ended up getting from Reloaders today. It should be a good compromise as such with 4x magnification as well as a red dot...

It's the Firedot Springs which has the red dot than about a 65moa circle and hash marks on four sides... looks like it should work pretty good!

I've like the Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x32 FFP Vortex Optics - Viper PST 2.5-10x32 FFP EBR-1<br />(MRAD)
nice to use good glass and a nice magnification range
