They work very well. I had chance to try one 8 years ago in Scotland.
The problem here, is that the importer limits the thread choices to 1/2"x 20 or 1/2" x28 which looks ridiculous on a 308 barrel as it removes to much meat! And they are available in many more bigger threads !S Series SL5 sound suppressor | Ase Utra

I've got one for my .223. A little on the heavy side (all steel construction) but very very quite!

Way quieter, and very compact...but about 600gr from memory - weight is the only negative with this model.
I don't like all these newer ''fater'' suppressors that are coming out, as you see far too much of them in the scope. Every suppressor has a ghost image in the lower part of the scope, but the newer short fat ones stick out like dog balls and IMO are a real distraction.

Sounds good looking at a can for my WSM was thinking of a hardys but these got my interest
the newer generation (SL5 etc) AU cans are much lighter than the old ones
Pity there is apparently no NZ importer and no way to get them from anywhere else.
If anyone finds a way, I'll take an SL5 BL .223 and a SL7 BL .338
Probably answered somewhere else but do you need an import permit for suppressors? Guessing so?
Nope
I think reloaders sell the standard ones maybe they could help?
Emailed them, nope.
That's average I would have been keen otherwise
Did you ever try spear point technology? I just flicked them an email to see what if anything they could do.

Thought you might have. Does that include the Australian civilian market as well? So hard to have some good clean fun these days. Might have to have a talk to some army buddy's, see if the NZDF might want to buy me some gifts....
There is no Australian civilian market for suppressors. They're not legal.
Ah yes forget about that.
They just have to make it hard don't they.
Life very quickly becomes very difficult when you're looking for something different to the usual boring stuff.
I got a m14 thread ase urea jet z compact from h-f.
They had them imported for the tikka sporter rifles.
Good suppressor. Heavy at 570 gr. But hearing safe. Unlike 90% of nz cans!
The new generation of AU SL5 etc are in the 400gms range and equally quiet.
According to Tuukka Jokinen Sales and Marketing Manager of ASE Utra, Reloaders has the SL 5and7 models on their next upcoming order. Will flick them an email and see if they can be reserved.
Yes, reloaders have SL5 but not BL models which us what I want, the others are not that interesting.
Tuuka didn't reply to my emails, the jerk.
Dan from spearpoint cc'd him into the email discussion so maybe that was the difference, after that he was very quick to answer emails. I did specifically ask David at reloaders about the BL model for you and if he comes back with 'we won't be getting them in' I will forward the email onto Tuukka and try source some.
Why are you wanting that model so much more, just to mount to flash hider or got a muzzle break that will work with it?
Dan from Spearpoint did the same with me, and I have emailed Tuuka separately, I haven't heard back.
I want the QD capability. I could buy any old thread-on can, I probably wouldn't bother with an AU if I wanted to do that
Fair enough. I'm just after something really quiet. Flash hiders legal?
on a bolt action, E, or if you call it a muzzle brake
Hi James,
I am working with Reloaders and other interested NZ dealers on getting the BoreLock series products there.
We are not set up to supply private individuals directly and there are also paperwork reasons why we would not prefer to go through Spearpoint on this.
This is related to the MOD export permits required for our fast attaching products, requiring end user certificates etc.
Best Regards!

I'm getting one from the UK. I have to do EUU paperwork but its like 3 forms.
How much for the SL 7 BL with 2 5/8 24 muzzle break bore lock? Want to add it to your order?
338LM one. Plan on using it for 338 and 308
Hi,
Just registed on the forum here, to be able to respond to your questions quicker.
Yes, we have thread mounting products coming to Reloaders and there will most likely be 1-2 additional sources for our products, especially with regards to the BoreLock fast attaching models.
It will take some time to get the first shipments of BoreLock products into the country, as they require MOD export permits.
However for a suitable importer we can apply for a block permit, which removes the paperwork requirement for the applied time / quantity, so follow up deliveries are quicker.
Our product availability has not been what we would like to see in NZ, but we are now correcting the situation.
Best Regards!

Thank you Tuuka. I look forward to having AU products available finally.
Thank you Tuukka
Thanks for persuing the interest we have in your products over here, as a few emails sent in your direction may have highlighted. I look forward to being able to finally get my hands on them after being in contact with you.
Cheers, James
Hi Tuukka,
Who else than reloaders will have your products here in NZ?
Because these guys are stuck with 1/2" x20 or 28 threads for everything up to 308 cal when you guys are offering all kind of threads tions (including m18x1 my favorite!)
Friwi
At least Katipo will be ordering our products.
Also to clarify the thread availability, we do stock and provide quite a large selection of threads, both metric and inch sizes.
What companies have ordered into NZ, is a another story.
As mentioned earlier, I really like to rectify the product availability and general product knowledge in NZ
Which also means increasing the effort from our side as well.
Best Regards!
