About LinkBacksAtlas bipods are nice, I know a few longer distance shooters that use them. I can't say i want to install a rail on my rifle myself and i am not a fan of the horizontal pan ability they have.
If you think they are expensive then you shouldn't look at a Sako bipod or a RPS bipod (RPS bipod, RPS tofot | www.Rifle–Precision–System.com) or an elite iron bipod (EliteIron High Quality Suppressors)
