    Do you have any scope mount protruding over the rear of the action? (like I have crudley drawn in the bottom part of the image) The ramp on the stock/ action is ever so slightly higher than the dovetail on the barrel as per diagram. If you have a rail or one piece mount that hangs off the back then this can cause it to not close properly as the ramp hits the mount and stops it. If it is not closed properly, it should not fire. Easiest fix is to gently stone / file the ramp down so it is lower than the dove tail. The ramp seems to be there so if using iron sights you see the post and Vee but the dovetail is below and out of sight. That would explain the lack of dent in the primer.
