Thread: barrel length for a grendel

toying with the idea of a 6.5 grendel as 223 does nothing for me does it like a long barrel like its 6.5 brothers

@northdude it depends what the use is. Hunting Deer etc 20-22" is ideal.

Long barrel will give you a few extra fps, no different from most rounds. The 6.5G is best suited 16-20", creating a compact rifle.

Mine was 16" and was glacial slow.

Mines 17" and it'll do 2500 with factory 123 Hornady ammo.

18" minimum as you don't have much spare fps to play with, nore option of a semi any longer.
Think my JP 18" used to do around 2450 fps with 123 SST's.

So did mine, but the factory stuff was too hot for my tight chambered AR.
Not that it matters now anyway. It’s scrap metal.
