    A barrel length question.

Seeing as alot of you are far more knowledgeable than myself on this topic, I thought I would ask the following:

What would be the ideal barrel length to shorten my barrel to before I would start to see any negative effects?

Of course this is a tough question without all the details so....
I have a CMMG evo .22 upper for my AR with a 20" barrel that I have finally got running reliably.
Now that I am looking to add a can to the end of it (probably a DPT due to weight/cost/positive forum feedback) the whole setup will be rather long.
I only use it to shoot rabbits/hares/possums on friends farms running CCI subs.

    Thanks in advance.

Yip about 14 seems to be right on the money
There are lots of guys in the usa running 4.5" barrels in an ar using standard velocity but them being subsonic

only take off what you are going to add. plenty of info out there on .22lr shortening...they only loose velocity after a ridiculous amount, the longer barrel is actually slightly slower which makes it more reliable with subsonics as the odd hotter one shouldn't break sound barrier.

Its not until you get down to less than a 12" barrel that you get minimum OAL worries with an A2 length stock.
11.5" usually leaves you at 760mm, 2mm too short.

I have a Cmmg 22 upper... It came standard at 16"...... Nailed hares to 150y with the eotech...... If I were you then I'd go to 14.5" and go for the m4gery look 😜
