Barrel thread

The Remington M700 thread is 1-1/6"x16 (1.062" x 16) which is the same nominal thread as the Bergara and some other actions but that does not meant they are interchangeable. Barrel thread length, bolt recess, extractor groove, etc. all play an important part. You mention that 'mechanical wizardry' is not your forte. Barrel fitting is not just a question of unscrewing one and putting in another, even in the case of replacing a barrel with a correct replacement. Leave it to a specialist gunsmith with proven experience.
