    Barrel on Tikka Bush Hunter?

Can anyone speak with actual knowledge about the barrel on the Tikka Bush Hunter rifle? Is it a standard Tikka barrel or something with a heavier profile? I would have assumed a standard barrel, but someone who should know thinks the latter.

It is the new D18 barrel that is found on the Veil Alpine, Wideland, S20s and Roughtech.
It is heavier than the standard lite or super lite barrel. This was the only way we were getting sign off from Sako product development for the 16” barrel run. It has more meat around the throat than standard to allow for a shorter stiffer barrel and more shots before groups open

I would say it’s every bit as heavy or lite (glass half full or half empty) as the standard T3 I did not find it light at all and poorly balanced that was before the can will make for a very muzzle heavy rifle

"Balance" can be a bit of a personal thing. Personally I prefer something with a bit of weight in the nose. I don't shoot muzzle light rifles well.

Once you put a can and optic on it, it is a very nicely balanced rifle that points great and is easy to shoot off hand.
When holding the rifle alone, you are holding it on the heaviest part (the throat) so that’s why you feel the weight. They shoot the 123gr, 150gr and 165gr into less than half an inch.

Yep. I have a Hardy Gen 6 on it. Works well and recoil is light. Noise without it would be bad, but good as gold with it on

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but saves a new one,

Anyone know what twist rate is on these? The standard t3 308 is 1:11? Did these get a faster one by chance?

yap. Shooting Winchester Deer extreme copper impact 150gr less than 0.5" with DPT. MV detected by Labradar 2530 fps. Recoil is ok with the DPT

Got a red double lungs shot 160++ meters. It dropped within 5 meters after impact.

I am happy with the bush hunter to be honest.

@mcche171 can you help this Southerner out with the twist rate?

I am also interested as I just presumed 1:11
