    Barrels

    Any good barrels about?

Thinking of selling some of my old rifles and re-barreling a Sako I have here for the purpose. Would be a 6.5

Get whatever caliber and twist you want
Obviously would be new not used or old stock.

    Sako 75 short action, 6.5x47Lapua

Not looking at another trueflight. The last one was a fluke. It fouled like crazy but shot well dirty.

Happy to pay for a good barrel. Want something decent. Last 6.5x47 on a 75 was superb. This one will be a hunting weight rifle.

Got bored with my ordinary classics as its too hard to trade them now. Back to one rifle to do it all.

    The suck is extreme.

Having learned there are no barrels around I am also assured that even if I got a barrel, there are no projectiles.

Where have you looked for projectiles?
Was in our new guncity the other day and they seemed to have quite a selection.

Should be able to find something 6.5mm to fire in the interim?

I got a shilen #3 and wouldnt recommend it.
Shoots a well under Moa with no load development and hardly fouls at all but ...
Bore was not central so the muzzle cap can be felt not flush.
Shilen #3 is too heavy for a hunting rifle. Shouldbe #2 or even #1 if you want light weight.
Being off centered im not happy to have it turned down. Will just have to try and shoot it out.

Surely a good machinist could bring it back to centered while re-contouring.

Had a #3 on a hunting rifle and damn was it heavy. Didn't look heavy.
