    Cool Barret Fieldcraft.

Well, one of these, fell into my lap, work mate, has been trying to sell his Barrett, he has been yapping, about shooting to a mile, so I figured 50 cal,
Just to humor him, I said, will take a look, bring a couple beer's, Turns up with a Barrett fieldcraft in 6.5 creed, 18" barrel, bolt still in the sealed bag, unfired, picked it up, light nice stock, bolt smoother than my Mannlicher,
Any how I now own a Fieldcraft, for $500 less than the new Finnlight, i was looking at.
Mounted a Leopold 2x7x33, Hell of a nice compact rifle, 5lbs 15 OZ, you beauty.
Went threw quick load, and decided what to run, with what bullets I had on hand, and powder, found a half box of 129gr SST ammo, and ran 46gr R25 into sum brass, 143gr ELDX seamed like a good plan, but over in the corner, sat a half box of my favorite 6.5 bullet, 160 gr Hornady, short barrel rifle, I aren't shooting it, that far, planted a few 160gr at 46.5gr, 47.5 and 48gr, off to the range,
Cold -20 c. so had centerfire range, to myself, pined up targets at 25, 50 and 100m,
11 rounds of Factory 129 gr SST, had me out to 100m and 2" high, with last shot, out ammo, and getting cold, debated about the box of 143gr ELD factory ammo,
Na, i try the 160gr, good bush load,
1st shot 1" low at 100m, second cant find the hole, third looked good, getting dark, 4:00pm dusk., so out with the binos, hell that looks good,
Dig around in the ammo tray, picked up what i thought was a 47.5 gr, touch high at 100m, upon extraction, it a 48gr, oh well, I decide shot the other three, nice group, especially as getting cold fingers, and shooting with gloves,
    46gr .520 group,
48gr 1.100" four shots, one didn't feel great.
Super impressed, the trigger is fantastic, super smooth action, nice long bolt handle, slim/compact and superb stock first few shots look dam impressive, i go back to the range in the morning,
Don't know if the Field craft is aviable in NZ, but if you get the chance to handle one, pretty sure, you be impressed, shore makes my LAW pro in 6.5 creed, feel like a heavy unresponsive club, guess its going down the road now, maybe the 6.5x54 too,
    Guess Santa came early,

I think Barett did pick up Forbes after things went bad for them.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Threaded for suppressor or muzzle brake, I think its a stupid way of doing it but for well under 2 g, I didn't care,
Put a few more rounds threw rifle, 47.5 gr R25 with 160gr Hornady, two 4 shot groups under 3/4 inch at 100, Range busy, and bitterly cold, had the LAW 6.5 creed out for a few shots, its 3lbs heavier almost, and feels worse for recoil with a lighter bullet, really like the stock and handling on this rifle. Off to work for 3 weeks,
You fellow's have a Merry Christmas,
