Battery flat on VX5 after driving on Quad with it?

Hi, yesterday I rode my quad bike fitted with rifle holders. The rifle was shaking around a bit when riding the quad. When I went to line up a deer the illuminated red dot had “gone flat”. The leupold VX5 I have apparently automatically lights up when about to shoot. I’m wondering whether all the shaking around while driving has flattened the battery hence no illumination??
    Has anybody had similar issues?
Any work arounds so battery doesn’t go flat while driving into a hunting area?

I sold my VX5 about 3 years ago, but if I remember correctly when the firedot is turned off it stays off, but if not turned off it comes on again with movement.

From the manual...so the work around is to actually turn off the illumination while driving to your hunting area.

    3. To deactivate the illumination, press and hold the button for at least 3 seconds. When reactivated, the
illumination will return to the last used setting.

Leupold third generation illumination systems utilize a proprietary Motion Sensor Technology (MSTTM) to
automatically preserve battery life. If the illumination is activated and the scope/rifle is left dormant for a
period of five minutes, the illumination will automatically turn off, but will immediately reactivate as soon as
the scope/rifle is moved even slightly

I have had my VX5 firedot for 3? years and no battery issues. The dot would be illuminated whenever I am carrying it around so there would have a few hours clocked up over that time. What level have you got the dot turned up to? I run mine pretty low so I can only see it when the light is poor.

hold the button down and count to ten
it usually takes about 8 seconds
just look thru as you are doing it

they turn off if movement isnt senced for a certian amount of time, i live next to a gravel road that makes my house shake and if i forget to turn them off they can burn thru battery in storage

they come back on the moment they sense movement in the "rest" state but not the off state
