Battery flat on VX5 after driving on Quad with it?

Hi, yesterday I rode my quad bike fitted with rifle holders. The rifle was shaking around a bit when riding the quad. When I went to line up a deer the illuminated red dot had “gone flat”. The leupold VX5 I have apparently automatically lights up when about to shoot. I’m wondering whether all the shaking around while driving has flattened the battery hence no illumination??
    Has anybody had similar issues?
Any work arounds so battery doesn’t go flat while driving into a hunting area?
