@bigbear I'm a leftie. The BA13 stock is completely ambidextrous. You can also move the hammer spur around to the left side.

Got the take-down specifically to use as a bicycle rifle :-)

Only issue I can think of for a youngster is that the BA13 does not have a safety, so the user has to be a bit more aware etc. Having said that, single shots are awesome for kids. The one thing to check is that his hands are large and strong enough to operate the break-open lever.
