Thread: bergara single shots

Wonder why they stopped marking the s/s single shot rifles in different calibre's.
They looked a handy little gun and from what i've read they are not a bad shooter. Make a good bush gun or truck/bike gun. Good for a left hand shooter and seem to group ok. Also been s/s in damp NZ bush conditions i would have thought it would be idea
The only negative i've read is a little on the heavy side and the front sling stud is in a funny place for a bipod

Just can't find them advertised. Only can find the 308 s/s 44mag no 243 or 7mmo8 any more. I haven't gone in a shop and asked if they can get me one in though.

The last I heard, Bergara's expanding on their singleshot line, not discontinuing them outright. They've supposedly brought out a new variant with a fluted action.

I think they are still being made in various calibres including the 6.5 x 57R. Had to sit in a quiet place for a moment after finding they were chambered in that. Probably just not imported currently. I have a .308 with the 500 mm barrel and yes it is a little heavy, about 200 grams heavier than my T3 but not ponderous heavy. Mine shoots well and is super handy, even with a muzzle forward suppressor. I can,t shoot prone any more so use a pole cat crossed stick rest.

Yeah its awesome how short they are, with the 16.5 inch barrel mine was a shade shorter than my 12.5 inch barreled AR. They are robust but not ridiculously so.

And as I mentioned in another thread I started it’s no wonder the Bergaras feel handy because the 16.5” 308 actually measures 14”!!! So what it says on the box ain’t necessarily so...but with an ASE can it’s still a sweet shooter.

Compared to a bolt action, when you cut one to minimum length, you end up with an 'action length worth (for given caliber)' more barrel, for the same OAL gun. That has its appeal I guess, over a repeater.

Bought a 20” Bergara BA13 .308 a few months back.
Really impressed, was getting average of 0.7” at 100 meters prone.
The weight is great as it helps keep the rifle down when fired. The kick is not bad for a .308
I’ll try again once my Waitaki Engineering suppressor turns up, as I expect to get better accuracy.

I have just ordered a Bergara BA13. I was impressed with the little rifle after reading about it and having a play with it. It is a solid unit, no lighter than a lot of bolt actions, but the overall length of the rifle is significantly shorter than most other guns, especially with a 16.5" barrel. It'll be great for carrying through nasty Northland bush. I went .300BLK which is blued. Would have preferred stainless, but not an option. I've been told the .308 stainless model is very popular and on backorder until August 2020.

Bergara still making them in several calibers, and those are being sold around NZ.

Like with most things, there is a shortage of stock, and some issues with global supply chains.

Not sure what info you got that these are not being made anymore or not for sale in NZ...

I bought a 308 take-down couple of weeks ago. Had to phone around to several gunshops and eventually got one shipped down from Napier.

The take-down model is a handy piece of kit, and the BA13 has one of the nicest factory triggers I have come across in a long time.
