Just looking for something to play with at the range with the kids we traditionally shoot at 100 so accurate is a must or am I dreaming with this platform opinions please
Tippmann hands down
lots of accurate .22 without having to look like a military piece of crap - begara CZ Anschutz Remington Tikka Sako - take your pick - range duty so trigger comfort - size - all have a role to play - does not have to be military looking in fact best not just a damn good accurate rifle- I am gob smacked that anyone in 2025 would introduce young people to shooting with a an AR look a like where is your head
It's just for a bit of fun .If I was going bolt I was thinking cz or tikka to match the rest .But having three bolt action .22 seems excessive if it was shotguns then no problem
I didn't see your full comment for some reason the kids who are incidentally 22 shoot with bolt action 925 marlins the semi was for me to join in with them
fine - without teaching kids to be Rambo - pump action lots of fun- semi auto again lots of fun - lever again lots of fun - but have a think about military AR15 look a likes and what we are allowed - and what you are teaching - that's all I am saying - I rest my case no more from me
Tippaman is the best but if you don't want to spend that sort of money a Smith and Wesson might scratch the itch.
Ignore Barry the Fudd.
The AR platform is great, good ergonomics, quick adjust LOP so both you and your kids can comfortably shoot, mlok handguard so can easily attach a torch for hunting use. Can easily add sling mounts (in the right spots) if you want to teach the kids to shoot with a sling, or if you want carry the rifle slung across your chest while hunting.
This is a 20 round group shot with a bone stock Tippmann M4 at 50m

. My head is squarely upon my shoulders. There is nothing wrong with a .22 in an AR platform and provided that young people are introduced to shooting in manner that highlights safe handling it matters not what the action of the firearm is and nor does it matter what it looks like. My Tippmann is black (I trust you do not discriminate based on colour) and it looks like a military platform firearm (I trust you are not a conscientious objector or pacifist) and it has been the firearm with which I have introduced many young people to firearms sporting activities. They have all learned what it is to act safely and be responsible with a firearm and they all will remember the experience for a very long time as the had a shit tonne of fun in the process.
I have to awnser that - negativity like that do we need it no we dont - so just as you say look once in a blue moon - my point is we live as firearm owners in an age where we are fighting for the right to have them - the anti firearm brigade is exceptionally strong and any excuse we are the losers- why give them ammunition against us - just because its a .22 does not mean anything to them - its a military style semi auto in their eyes - no matter how functional accurate or fun to use - why give them any excuse to have a case against us as a legitimate firearm user - we dont need it we have an uphill battle as it is -make absolutely no mistake about that
It's ironic that the anti-gun bigade might find a true military ex WW2 Lee Enfield converted to 22lr as ok, while a 22lr AR platform that has never been used in any conflict as bad. I wonder if a 10/22 becomes evil in a black plastic stock compared to a wood one?
well i do own one with a dragunov stock, did it to make it a bit longer length of pull.
we have them at the moment and may that continue but look at some of the rubbish the anti gun brigade publish and weep
100%
So everyone has got a little excited back to my original question tippmann is the best ???
Mine was really accurate out of the box compared to other semi 22. Once I fitted a CMC comp trigger it became as accurate as my Tikka T1x. Repeatable one hole 10 shot group at 50m minus the odd firecracker flyer. Most 3 shot group at 100m are under 1.5moa without wind and on an A4 piece of paper at 300m.
Never jam with cci sv. Had few jam with Tac22 while super accurate, just too waxy.
10 shot at 50m supressed, cci sv

Says in your location tag you're based in Rotorua. Go see Don at Gun Supplies. They usually have a rack full of them. I'd recommend getting the cheaper Pro model with the plastic handguard. They are the best semi auto 22lr on the market IMO, irrespective of being AR pattern.
If you hold a range ticket at the TECT range you also welcome to give mine a go.
The tippmans are a great platform not just a range toy either they are a functional tool that many pest controllers etc have come to rely on. Wish I didn't sell my one
no fan for kriss?
Dude I don't even feel like you are intelligent or reasonable enough to have a conversation with, you are aren't fighting for the right to have them with an attitude like that. Like has already said you are a cock and firearm owners like you are the reason it is getting harder and harder to get access to firearms, if all firearm owners stood together in 2019 we may not be in the situation we are in now, but people like you were like nah as long as I can keep mah bolt action 22 screw everyone else
you are totally and utterly incorrect - I fought damn hard back then to keep my semiauto centerfire and abhor the way it all went - my point which seems to have been completely missed in calling me names is that the anti gun lobby want all semi autos banned - we cannot give them traction or ammunition and we dont as a group stick up for ourselves - the very low no of submissions is not going to do our cause any good - as I said read their propaganda and weep - the last thing we need is photos of kids with AR15 lookalikes and I will stand by that
well Howa 1500 awnser me this why when we have any number of really good semi auto 22 rifles such as Volquartson - Bergara - Ruger 10/22 target models -CZ all accurate proven why would someone buy a 22.cal semi auto copy of an AK47 or a German submachine gun or an AR15 its because of what they look like that seems to be about all - do we need them- not really considering what we can get - the Tippmans I will exclude they seem to be practical and accurate - or do I lack some kind of inner Rambo urge
I fail to understand the relevance of "why do we need them" because I want to and it looks cool is enough. But it's a rifle that's highly customisable to the user, whether this be changing the stock or trigger, easy mounting of accessories such as lights or thermals for night shooting, rifles such as the Tippmann can have the barrel replaced for increased accuracy. If you want to teach a kid to shoot you can just reduce the length of the stock. oh and yeah, because people want to buy it, what is the problem with this simple statement? We should be attempting to normalize the absolute shit out of this kind of stuff, instead you're like no the people who already want to take all my shit won't if I don't buy a specific type of firearm because it has a scary shape.
Tippmann all the way. I had a Kriss and the barrel was fucked from new luckily the upper was replaced under warranty but that was fucked as well and Grant (the NZ agent) would not fix it.
To put fuel on this bun fight fire: After mulling over it I can see both points of view BUT if the anti-gun nut types get onto wanting to ban Tipperman types rifles and by not purchasing them they importers stop bringing them into the country then it plays into the hands of anti-gun nuts hands - who will then target 10-22s etc.
Make sense?
It does to me - after a wine!
