Thread: Best light weight Stock and/or tactical chassis for hunting

Hey guys,

Can I get everyones input on this please. I have a Tikka t3x 7mm RM lite and want to upgrade the stock. I'm torn between a carbon stock (Would love to know your fav available in NZ and weight) Or a tactical style chassis as I used to be in the army and quite like the feel of having a full hand grip etc but concerned about the weight (Would love to know your favs on this to and weight).
I do quad and hiked hunting, usually very open (No bush really) shooting ave from 200-600 meters

I don’t have any experience with a chassis but have a Hi-tec composite stock (Ken Henderson) and rate it highly. Very nice fit and finish! Weighs 631g.

me neither Hi-Tech are the business

I have a Hi Tech composites stock and it is the business. Very nice quality and finish with an awesome drop in fit bedding system.

I use only chassis systems for hunting eaten them alot actually. Have a dpt long range for a tikka long action for sale.

I would argue that the LR type chassis isn’t really practical for a carry rifle. But the Hunter version definitely is. A chassis for hunting needs to be minimalist. Love the pistol grip. There are several on the market now that I’d happily use. Looking forward to the Howa Mini EXCL arriving soon hopefully

Hi-tech or Southfort.

This would fit the bill if going down the chassis path. Probably short enough to carry in most daypacks without can on. I'd ge one in .308 if it were me.

Yeah was looking at this chassis as it’s showing available from a store in NZ. Do you have one already?

I have a tac21 met chassis on my 6.5prc, I have a mdt listen 2 in my tikka 300win man, and have just ordered a mdt lss gen 2 for my mini howa build. Dpt for sale at a good price

Been holding off getting a hi tech till I can hold one to see if they fit, use a A7 and they inlet a sako 85 stock for them I think,but since i use open sights sometimes I need a lower cheek weld than most stock have..look like a nice piece of kit though.
