Best muzzle brakes
Hi all,
Have just purchased myself a 7mm mag as a nice synthetic upgrade from my old wooden .270. Am looking to put a brake on it, who does the best ones around? Gun smith required or not. Alternatively if you think I’m making a mistake by not getting a can I’m all for it! But I’m aiming for small and light and only for hunting so I won’t be shooting much in excess of a box of ammo a year.
Cheers

Hard to beat a Terminator T3 from @Kiwi Greg

i have a 7mmRM myself but its a heavy barrel so recoil isnt an issue.
but loading 140 grain partition projectiles not 162gr is the best thing i have found for flat shooting accuracy

Bush hunting= can
Open country , ear protection, just one or two animals= brake of you want to save weight and length.
Dry country , loose material, dust, dry dirt about. A brake will through it up all through your gun and action, eyes. Laying a hat , rag etc down under break will stop this.
T3 from Greg is the way to go. Gunsmith to thread barrel and time the brake.

A radial brake doesn't need timing, so is simpler/cheaper to fit and can be taken on and off without problems (if, perhaps, you wish to alternate with a suppressor). If the barrel on your rifle is already threaded, it may not need gunsmithing to fit a brake with the same thread; if the threading on the barrel is accurate and the internal thread on the brake is accurate. That is too many 'ifs'. I'd get it fitted by a gunsmith. Most brakes seem to be made from steel but there are a few alloy ones on the market and occasionally, and expensively, titanium.

I really like my MTN gear mini muzzle break, really cool design and works really well. Also fantastic service

Another vote for Greg’s terminator brakes. Had a t2 on a rem mag a few years ago and was soft as butter to shoot

get the suppressor as well... you will soon work out which you prefer...and it wont loose much value if you want to pass it on,be very surprised if you do.

+1 for Dean Maisey. I have the Varimax. Cool idea - can carry closed for spook & shoot then open the ports when you have time to put in your ear protection. Avoids changing POI

The Terminator TT doesn't need timing, but if you are needing to get the barrel threaded then that won't really matter.
The best muzzle brake on the market appears to be the without warning TMB but the Terminator will be more than good enough and should come in more thread sizes not just 5/8x24.

I'm running x2 T3 terminators, x1 APW tuner brake and a dpt directional brake.
The T3 and APW are the best for recoil reduction.
Want to get my hands on a tmb brake.

There are now 28 models of Terminator Muzzle Brakes
From the tiny T1 @ 32 grams to the massive T7 @ 1.7 kgs
The T2 has 13 thread options & the T3 has 15
There are 10 self-timing models
I nearly always have all brakes & thread options in stock
This is by far the biggest range of muzzle brake in the world, all made here in little old NZ :)
