I am looking of a good set of binoculars to start off with. Not too expensive
but a good set that will last

    Any suggestions?

Depends on your budget but take a look at Steiner or Nikon binoculars, both have good glass for the money.

I would say $200-350, that is a rough estimate.

That's not going to get you a 'good set' of binos unfortunately. 10 times that amount will get you something nice.

    Keep saving, it's worth it.

But a 4 or 5 hundred dollar set will find him plenty of deer in the mean time

Dont waste you $300. I got a $250 pair of leupolds they were shit. Then i was talked into getting a pair of $400 dollar minox by a salesman, they ended up being shit too. A mate and i were lookn for tahr he had a pair of leupod cascades and i had my minox i couldnt see them even with him pointing them out. So spend $500 min cascades are good.

I like my cascades. The 2grand plus binos are better but not 4x better.

My Zen-Rays (ED2) were $300 and are fantastic, that was a half price bargain though.

These ones should be under your $350 budget with shipping and exchange rate:

I had a set of Leupold Yosemity's, lost them in the scrub one day. I couldn't afford much, so got some Bushnell H2O's 8x42 roof mount.- about $240

They seem ok. I've found mobs of Tahr, Chamois and hare with them. They work well, and it wont be the end of the world of I lose or smash them.
