Hi team
Matt here. Appreciate the input and support.
A couple of points that might be of interest are:
1 - We have sold the designs to MDT so at any point when they are ready it they will change to a Canadian made MDT version that I don't believe will have pan either. Also still no idea how that will affect price.
2 - We have had a number of revisions over the years so comments made about the products aren't always relevant to the current versions. I.e. about the small front bolt being tightened and the bolt snapping. While "if the instructions are followed" this isn't an issue but in reality the product could have been more user friendly so that bolt is now gone and as it just held the parts together it is done so with a different method so this is just a non issue now. Other minor items like this we have improved over the years and just generally bulked the product up a bit.
3 - Backcountry bipod being a bit awkwardly high on flat ground. The legs are reasonably long to get over grass and vegetation etc but it doesn't mean you can get as low for rear support in certain situations. This is one of the main reasons my recommendation is generally the Mountain Bipod but it is personal preference.
Even with the MDT design purchase any products with MTNGear branding will still be warranted by us so no dealing with an overseas company.
Any questions always feel free to reach out to us at info@mtngear.nz we want to hear from you.
And keep an eye out we have a bunch new products we are at various stages of working on. Non hunting bipods, hunting and non hunting tripods, 625ish grams (as things stand finished weight without any additional parts required) full feature folding buttstock chassis and more rail options.
We are slowly bring more of the processing in house with the next lot of rails we are working on being fully machined, surface prep and laser engraved in house. They should go to the anodizers this week and hopefully by the time we are back we have figured out the laser engraver.
Cheers Matt
