Ironically he's looking at carbon stock options now for the R8. I prefer the R8 detachable magazine......but the weight I can't live with unless armchair hunting.

Sounds like some people need to lift some weights for a while :D
Some days it's like no one here remembers how much an average rifle used to weigh.
6-7 pounds?
You'll be able to carry the backstraps and eye fillets now that you have a r93 BRADS!
So have I timed it right to have a jam on the new R93 too? :D Who needs a blaser with buddies like you ;) Good on ya bro do what the hell you wanna do!!
DISCLAIMER: I don't own a Blaser

R93 lighter, R8 stronger action can handle mag calibres heavy and the trigger comes out with the mag, so if you forget the mag you also forget the trigger.

I don't think you could forget a great deal if you had the nice box also, just as likely to forget the scope or barrel. I think what would be worse is taking the wrong barrel and the wrong ammo.
I would guess not.Quote:
Can you change the Scopes between the barrels with out losing zero?
The notches on the barrel which mate with the scope mount are probably slightly different on each barrel (Repeatability in machining can only be so accurate). So whilst you may be able to un-mount and remount a scope from the same barrel and maintain POI/POA, its likely that changing to another barrel witl change POI/POA due to machining.
Same as every other set of quick release optics - so you can have multiple optics set up for one barrel. R93 is a good example of this, using a cheaper scope or a red dot for closer range shooting and putting a larger scope on for long range.Quote:
Which is why I asked as to the point of the quick release scopes attached to barrels
R93 Pro Stock, 300 WM: 3.1 kg // 6.8 lbsQuote:
So how heavy are these R8 compared with the R93?
R8 Pro Stock, 300 WM: 3.5 kg // 7.7 lbs

I thought I was a good troll.
Lots of Jelly in this thread....
Easy to get barrels.... @45SOUTH is your man., if it's not in stock, there may be the cal you want on its way, or its normally 12 weeks.
Sometimes the wait is worth it to get the normal NZ'ders spec of factory threaded, no sights.

Awesome trolling. Top effort.
Amazing how much a rifle and one's choice can divide a community
Ya know... personally I prefer the R8 over the R93... fit wise, it points better, comes up better, and a nicer stock shape than even a Sako 75. The extra weight is because of a stronger action and personally I like the detachable trigger group. Its pretty noticeable when the trigger is missing unlike a magazine. The mass is centralised more and it does feel solid because of its small overall size, but that is mostly perception.
We are talking 3.3 kgs bare rifle with my shortened 18" 6.5x55 barrel and 2.9-3 kgs for a finnlight. Similar for a R93.
300-400 grams... I'll trade that anyday for a better fit and the other plusses....
However if somebody wants to produce a quality stock in CF with the internals in the professional style and could take it down by 700-800 grams without wanting to charge new rifle price for it.... well that would be a win wouldn't it.
While I accept that it feels solid... it sort of makes me chuckle that most seem to miss the point that the rifle itself can be configured as a bush gun, with short barrel and light optics at around 8.5lb in a medium calibre, and convert to a serious LR capable rig for less than 10lb with serious calibre/optic options.
Like R93 says... single scope across barrel use isn't practical, and his aimpoint/cheap bush scope and dedicated LR optics in the backpack is a lot better than using a March 3-24 as a bush beater...
In terms of a versatile platform, there isn't much that competes... if the weight thing is a prob... do the R93 or pay plenty for some carbon fibre or both...
Do they do stainless?
Nup... but the nitrited finishes are pretty robust and personally I wouldn't worry about stainless...
K... I was using weights for my previously owned 75 finnlights... in medium action length... prob should have said..
R8 probably weighs approx the same as a standard 75
The extreme R93 looks like the bees knees
So what's the price difference between the r8 and r93?
Shit that went quiet quick,
So who is the dealer for Blazers then so we can get some prices?
Or is it better to order in youself
@45SOUTH is the man to talk to.

Or @BRADS, his cast offs are always well priced aye ?

Yeah Quentin is a good bugger, he will look after you but just be aware it's a second job for him so some patience needs to be displayed. He will have you sorted though. Patience is needed regardless as depending on what you want your looking at a 12 week wait.
Has anyone in chch got a r8 I could have a feel of??
The R8 fits better than the R93 & the removable mag / trigger is really handy.... however the R8 is a sumo wrestler compared to the R93 in the weight department. Blaser need to offer their rifles with a factory carbon stock option.
Would this do for weight for an R8??

Arrow gun stock?
Just to be clear that pic is one Pete sent me last week ready to be shipped! I haven't got it as yet.
Defiantly not in the too hard basket mate!
Yep that's where I herd of them as well. So I signed up and had to post a couple of times so I could pm Pete. Asked if he was still making them and if he could ship to little old NZ and was all on once he said yes. The only decisions you need to make is what length of pull you want and the color combo you want. He adds the webbing for grip, webbing is limited to black, gold or white from memory. The base color can be what ever you like I'm picking. It only took about 1.5 weeks from start to finish. Shipping cost is up there but I've been lucky as their is someone else in the country getting one as well so will be sharing costs.
Does he do R93 stocks?
