    Blaser vs Mauser M03

    Hi

Anyone on here had the privilege of spending quality time with both? I have the M03 and it is a solid beast but so beautifully made.

I like the look of the R93 and understand it is also a bit lighter than the R8, and like the blaser action (from youtube vids).

Opinion on the net seems divided but possibly favouring the M03 if you don't mind a little extra heft.

    Cheers
    Bob

I don't think you will get much unbiased comment here somehow.

The Strassers are very, very nice, if I wanted a straight pull rifle that is the one I would get

    Strasser RS 05

Quite reasonably priced as well for the base line model.

They do look nice but that bolt is hideous! Seem quite 'light' at 7-7&1/4lbs for magnum calibres.

    +1 Greg that things hideous
I looked at the Mauser the lack of available cals put me off.
I do believe that now there is a huge range in country. The Mauser is heavy and the blaser is no lightweight but they shoot better than anything else
    Good luck with your choice

I like the look of the strasser tho haven't fondeled one, the short throw bolt is the next evolution of the straight pull.

My reservation with it is the hydraulic clamping system of the barrels, not having googled a schematic (because I am not in the habit of researching things I cant afford) I am sceptical because ALL hydraulic systems leak or fail sooner or later.

They are very similar everywhere else except the action.
If you want a straight pull get the blouser :p
I like turnbolts so my preference is for the m03.
Both companies under same ownership so quality is excellent with either.

IIRC when I saw them at the Sika show there was one option in the mid to late 3K plus mount, it may have been a show special ?

The machining on them was incredible

At that price they would nearly be in my possibly bracket.

That price straight from a prompt reply from the NZ agent. Suspect demo/show special.
