    Bloody Suppressor Dillema

All set to go with a DPT over barrel suppressor for my t3 lite and marlin x7 in 7mm 08 following the positive reviews on here. Get talking to a customer today who has a sonic suppressor. man this bloke was like a kid with a new toy. Said it was the best thing since sliced bread, and judging by the the trophies hanging in his garage he has clearly walked a few miles with a gun as company. Looked at their website and it does not tell you much. He bought his at Smiths City. Have tried a search on the web and struggling to find much info other than they are made in Sweden. Any of you guys come across them or have opinions on them? Any advice would be much appreciated. He seems to think he paid 300 bucks for his one. many thanks

unless he has used other brands of suppressors before then his comment isn't valid. those sonic suppressors come on the howas, as a package deal I think, but doesn't make them good or bad. haven't used one so cant comment on what theyre like nor have I read any good or bad about them

go with what you want, I have a dpt , and a lot on here like them too

    Cheers scoped.
What is it with hunting, you put in the hard yards making decisions about guns, optics and everything else we think we MUST have. Then just at the last minute one more opinion/review etc puts the grain of doubt in the old swede lol. Think DPT is the answer. Fantastic reviews pus it supports a kiwi

The local gun shop has a heap of them, pulled a few apart and look pretty sharp inside. The aluminium baffles have stainless inserts to reduce wear on the center bore, but still reduce weight. They have some pretty flash engineering inside.
I ordered one for my AR and they thought they had the correct thread in stock but turned out they can only get the 35mm version in 1/2x28, the 45mm only comes in 1/2x20

the price was very sharp, were on special for $200 at the time, have seen them online for $250.

If I had a barrel that fitted the thread I'd possibly get one

Yes lack of thread choice is the main problem, have one here tho haven't used it much.
The 1/2" thread doesn't leave much meat on a 30cal barrel.

Yeah the manufacturer of the one I wanted was having a hissy fit at 1/2 x 28 thread on my new gun. So no suppressor for me by the looks

stick to your original plan with the DPT I reckon. I don't have a Sonic suppressor to compare but I can tell you that the DPT suppressor is a very, very good piece of kit.
It's NZ made & parts are readily available if required.

yeah agree with the thread taking quite a bit of metal with it. I have one fitted by Dolimore and that point came up. however with the shoulder shaped as it is and also being over barrel, he was confident it should be an issue.

I don't think it really matters. Make your decision based on what you deem to be the best solution. Don't worry too much about how many animals someone else shot with suppressor X or whatever.

Just go shoot a few animals, then you'll be the guy talking up whatever suppressor you bought.

I have a sonic on my 7 08. It is the only suppressor i have had on one of my rifles so dont know about other brands. But i am very happy with mine as the difference between having it on and not is huge.
