I assume it could make it easier to catch on something, and if you were carrying it with a round in the chamber it may cause an accidental discharge.
On one occasion I can recall my hammer being caught on the edge of a scabbard and it half cocked and dropped on an empty chamber.
I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.
Finding one that fits may be the real problem. The hammer is pretty wide.
Possibly to reduce the chance of light primer strikes. Seen /had a couple of rimfires that did not like the extra weight. More inertia = less speed at impact.
Got something sorted believe it will be health and safety issue from browning, this is the cats pyjamas

Ive seen..somewhere...a double sided one...MAYBE the issue is weight only on one side???or as you say yanky being lawyer shy lol...Ive used same as yours many times with no issues.
75/15/10 black powder matters
Don't think there will be any issues feels so much better then squashing a fat thumb under a scope especially when decocking

Hi Guys never had a problem with my extensions as there is a safety bar so if you just pull the hammer back and let loose it wont fire the round ,unless you have the trigger already pulled back [[these were on Rossi,s so test your own model first ]] ..
I did get a custom two sided one machined via FSS who did a wonderful job of it too ..
Cheers
