    I have 3 blued rifles that are 31-37 years old, no rust and the blueing is still pretty good.
    The only rifle I ever had that got pitting was a stainless barrel.

    On multi-day trips take a pull-thru and a oily rag and give a quick wipe each night and you won't have rust issues.
