sub$20 for cold blue.....or just use paint....
Ive got a 6x42 kahles on mine too....lovely combination...didnt need to munt handle either...did mount it waay back to suit smaller folks.
Only had one set of rings that would fit the mighty jw dovetail, few mms off the bolt and she is good to go,sighting in tomorrow.
Rust blue it. Not to hard a process
Shit sounds complicated, might just get a rattle can of etch primer and call it done.
Take the bolt apart (easy as)
Polish the rest of the finish off the finish
Be careful not to remove Material you just want to remove blueing
Once its all a even finish Boil the jug
And drop the part in a cup of hot water
Alternatively a few swipes with a torch
Then put your cold blue on
You get a much better finish With hot material
Other option (not sure if this would be recommended for a jw15 bolt handle as it includes the locking lugs and the heat will some what soffen lugs
Is you carefully heat the part with a Torch until the part goes dark blue
Then quench in oil
You could stop at a dark purple Colour for a case harden look
Which would look quite cool
Im just not sure about heating the part that is responsible for locking the action I don’t know if I would to be honest
But works really well on things like screws and thread protectors etc part that arn’t part of the main function and may Cause a safety Hazard
I use oxhpoblue with excellent results on bolts that I modify. It will not affect stainless. Likely the welder used stainless filler rod.
Not a fan of welding. too much heat on the cocking ramp.
Hi @HCohen97, welcome to the NZHS forum, he hasn't welded any where bud, just filed down handle for bolt to clear new scope fitted, JW15 is a Chinese copy of older Brno Model 1 .22RF .
You should put some posts up about what you use to hunt with in Poland & game hunted, many would be interested I'm sure ?
Oh ! Thanks @mimms2, seems I'm a bit of a Internet Wood Duck Eh ?
