Got one at home. Back in a couple of days and I can check it out.
It blocks the tripping levers from the trigger to the hammers from lifting.
Take the stock off and have a squiz.

I have a largish dining table and an understanding wife so I’ll see what I can do...
Now having a coffee while examining the offending gun.
It seems the rear trigger will fire even with the safety on - HOWEVER if pressure if kept rearward on the safety button it won’t fire.
Next step is to pull things apart and look at the mechanical gubbins to see what is worn or needs ‘adjusting’.
If it's the same as mine just a long bolt through the back of the stock. Mine is slotted like a screw.
It may just be worn or bent.

Far out a Boito that is still a live !!! It must be 40yrs old ?
I had a Boito o/u shotgun i bought new, Lake Ellesmere killed it, thankfully before it killed me. You could load a couple of crackers in it , line up a duck , pull the trigger and nothing, next time both crackers would go off at once and just to make life really interesting [for all the wrong reasons] I opened it , closed it and a cracker went off. It got sold for parts straight after that, it was many many years ago.

I just gotta tell you the truth mate. It's a concrete bucket in the tide :)
As it turns out it was less than precise construction, the L shaped ‘rocker’ that blocked the triggers wasn’t moving far enough to engage properly when the safety button/slider was moved, a minor build up with a tig on the bottom of the safety button/slider should make things right.Quote:

I had one once ,a long time ago, for a very short while. It stopped cocking on one barrel.i was able to bend the bent cocking lever straight in my hands.
Update: I knocked out the pin that holds the safety ‘button’ in place and using a strategically placed gutter bolt (as an ‘anchor’) and water pump pliers I ‘eased’ the top of the ‘L’ shaped rocker closer to the button, it only had to go 2mm at most.
Reassembled things again.
Now the safety works properly on both barrels!!
