Thread: Bolt Faces

Right we all know a bolt face can be 'opened' easy as but why dont you see many people 'close' them?

I have a 7mm saum rem700 titanium action that i was given but dont want that bolt face as, why cant i sleeve it an fit sako extractor rather that buy new bolt body? be no weeker that what it was when was open on the saum be smaller round anyway

Anyone herd of anyone doing it?

Feed rails can be changed to suit new rounds so thats no biggie either

No reason why you cant.
Depending on how much smaller you go the sleeve might not be too thick, but if its a press fit, then there should be no issues.
Pretty simple engineering job really.

Its not big at all but wondering why you never hear it been done?

Going from the saum to 243 case

I know someone that turned a MAG face to a 08

Orde a new bolt with PT&G when you do the order for a 243AI reamer

Swap the bolt with some one that wants a magnum bolt face........pick me.......pick me

Have a look on youtube, theres a vid of a guy opening boltface and fitting sako extractor, he opens bolt face then fits a bush to the size he wants then uses some form of easy flow to hold it in from memory

and givin a action! wtf haha

i would be want to keep the action as a hole as they are titanium bolt body to?

Build up(weld it) or sleeve it? pros and cons for both I guess.

did wonder about weld but it doenst do bugger all more a guide than anything so sleeve will do the job, an then she can come tahr hunting

Tui-man, if you specifically want to use a Titanium action then use one of these

Titanium Actions from X-Treme Shooting within AccurateShooter.com

Or if you want to modify the stainless bolt that comes in you Rem Ti action then most gunsmiths can do that.

I was going to use is since it was there would be rude not to an the barrel that come with it, shes all mated up now to the new barrel, just needing a chamber, an the face has been 'closed an sako extractor fitted
