Bring A Cat Semi Automatics Back to Trade Me

Since Trade Me prohibited the sale of all semi automatic firearms in March, the market for used semi-auto 22s and shotguns in New Zealand has really dried up.
Trade Me was the main place people went to buy and sell used firearms, so this is a major setback.
The number of firearms currently listed on Trade Me is less than half what it was before their policy change.

I’ve created a petition for Trade Me to allow the sale of all “A” category firearms, as they did before.
    Here is the link: https://www.change.org/p/trade-me-tr...egory-firearms

Feel free to sign and share it if you agree.

TM is a private platform. A petition doesn’t mean anything to them.
Frankly they can go f**k themselves, stop giving them your money if possible.

You're dreaming. Show me an example where TradeMe has acquiesced to requests for improvements, changes or services..........and now they have an overseas owner whose major business activity is buying operations, "flossying them" and then selling them for a profit ASAP..

Be logical, ignore TradeMe and support the newly created venue for firearms web site .

To be honest, fuck Trademe. The more they disallow, the more room it allows for a viable alternative (like gunbroker.co.nz)

    Plus f**k Change.org.
They are quite happy to host a petition banning ALL semi autos (ie shotguns and rimfires).

Change.org is the biggest waste of space around.
The way they promote their useless petitions, they make seem like only a few more signatures (how many are actually real people?) are all that is required to magically make the request happen.

As I said fuck trade me .If every one adopted your attitude nothing would change. Trade me has shat on us at every opportunity and made up their own rules as they see fit regardless of law.The make ardern go away hats hats are another example.Give gunbroker some legs and see where it goes.I have no affiliation with them just would rather firearms have their own site.

I don't believe that Change.org is biased. They will allow just about any petition on their site, as long as it isn't libel or advocating violence, etc. They don't discriminate one way or the other.
ThePetitionSite.com, operated by Care2, is biased in that they removed a pro-gun petition yet allow anti-gun petitions. I haven't seen any evidence of Change.org doing that.
There was already a petition on Change.org for Trade Me to stop selling semi-automatics, and it got about 5,000 signatures.
I'd like to see this one exceed that. Even if it doesn't change anything, it at least makes a point.
We can't let anti-gun attacks go unanswered; whenever possible we need to provide the counter-argument for anything our opponents say.
If someone looked on Change.org and saw just the anti-gun petition, it would be easy for them to assume that the public were all against semi-automatics and so on.
On the other hand, if they saw both petitions and ours had just as many if not more signatures, they would have to give our viewpoint at least some credibility.
At least that's the theory. We'll see how we go. These petitions have traditionally fared much better when directed at private companies than at governments.

Yes, I did looked at the petition and thought it was futile (like the old saying "wasted votes"), but I'll go and sign it out of principle.

I wasn't aware that gunbrokernz.co.nz even existed, so thanks for bringing that to my attention.
However, I went over there and there was one firearm listed for sale. One.

You don't seriously think that will replace Trade Me any time in the near future, do you?
It is unlikely that any site will ever surpass the prevalence and ease of use of Trade Me.
They have about 4 million members, or pretty much every adult in the country.
That means that almost every gun owner has a Trade Me account.
How is gunbrokernz ever going to compete with that?

I did find a decent alternative in allgoods.co.nz though.
They allow the sale of all firearms(not just A category) and they make it much easier to contact the seller directly.
There are currently more than 50 firearms listed for sale there.
    Check it out here: https://allgoods.co.nz/browse/7641?a...=0&brand_new=0
There is a box in the lower right corner to switch between new and used listings.

Quite right............So let's have some patience and give them room to develop. In the meantime, if you want to use TradeMe then do so, but fat chance of getting either substantial support here for a petition or any acceptance of a petition by TradeMe's new owners.
