    BRNO 601 questions

    Hi Guys,

I managed to pick up a decent example of a ZKK BRNO 601 in 243 win manufactured in 1974.

Barrel has been re-crowned and is about a 8/10 with some old pitting.

The end that was cut off is knackered and it is grouping between 1"-4" at 100m with three types of ammo.

It has the set trigger fitted which is lovely but I have always wanted a 308 or a 358 win.

Does anyone know what the thread is on the actions?

I'm trying to work out if I can find a second hand barrel that can be screwed on from a tikka, mauser etc to save some coin.

    Cheers,

    F.

Doesn't answer your question but here's the owners manual for the ZKK series of BRNO Rifles

    http://stevespages.com/pdf/zkk_600-601-602.pdf

However from memory I believe the thread size for the barrel is 28mm x 2mm but can't confirm this.

    Cheers

I believe they are the same as CZ550 rifles.
I had a ZKK601 in 223, and it came rebarrelled but don't know who did it.
Gunworks trimmed and threaded it for me though.

Thanks guys, being a commercial mauser action I assumed it would be the same thread as a large ring mauser?

But I still can't find out. Might just ask for a quote from a few places. Cheers guys

My Brno fox was around 1" diameter with a 1.25 mm thread pitch, so there are chances that the 601 could be a metric size of some sort as well.

Not much on the interweb but supposedly the 600/601/602 all share the same thread of 28x2. Not quite the same as a large ring . .

Thanks for that link, I never knew I could adjust the trigger on my 308, though I have only had it for 25 years!

Burris make the best ones imho. You have to grind off the recoil lug. They make them for the CZ550 and the CZ452 and one of these two fits the dovetail on the 601. The optics zone is the cheapest place to buy them from.
